Jillian Michaels will not change her mind any time soon on the keto diet.
Earlier this week, the 45-year-old coach again explained why she thought there were healthier ways to lose weight than by eating a high-fat, low-protein, low-carb diet. which is becoming more and more popular.
On the last episode of the #Adulting podcast – hosted by wellness expert Nikki Sharp and comedian Zack Peter – Michaels discusses his diet while discussing his new book
The 6 keys
, which addresses myths and misunderstandings related to aging.
Stressing the importance of a diet high in protein, fat and carbohydrates, Michaels said, "Your cells are literally made up of these three macronutrients," so "the best anti-aging diet" would be that encourages eating a "balanced and clean version of protein, fat and carbohydrates".

This contradicts the basic principle of the restrictive keto carbohydrate diet. "This is just one of the many reasons why the keto is a terrible idea," said Michaels. "People can criticize me as they want, but deep down, it's science and science is there – and (keto) is bad for your overall health and well-being."
She also pointed out that some people who follow the keto diet claim to have "reversed all insulin-related health problems," such as diabetes, because the diet prohibits white flour and white sugar.
But Michaels says that healthier diets can help people achieve the same goals.
"We can accomplish these things … without falling into ketosis," she explained, evoking the metabolic process in which the body burns stored fat instead of glucose for its daily energy.
Michaels went on to point out that keto can also negatively affect the liver and thyroid, as well as the anti-aging process.
"I promise you that it's not good for you and that there are better ways to do it," she added.

Michaels sparked controversy in early January by talking about the scheme in a video for Women's health, calling the keto "a bad plan for a million reasons," and adding that she thinks the keto diet deprives your body of essential nutrients.
"Your cells, your macromolecules, are literally made up of proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, nucleic acids. When you do not eat one of the three macronutrients – these three things I just mentioned – you starve yourself, "she said. "These macronutrients serve a very important purpose for your overall health and well-being. Each of them. "
Instead of eliminating a whole group of foods, Mr. Michaels said that it's best to follow a well-balanced diet: "You do not eat processed sugar, you do not eat cereals transformed and, for short, avoid the keto. diet, "she told PEOPLE Now in December. "Common sense, a balanced diet is the key."

After Michaels' comments on the diet earlier this year, she found herself in the middle of a quarrel with Today & # 39; hui meteorologist Al Roker – who lost 40 pounds. since the beginning of keto last year – and with Watch what's happening live host Andy Cohen, who called it an "access hole" on his Bravo show.
Roker also fought in tweets and on Today & # 39; hui. "So @JillianMichaels says that #Keto is a bad idea. This of a woman who promoted to the camera intimidation, deprivation, manipulation and more each week in the name of weight loss. Now it sounds like bad ideas, "he tweeted.
Michaels challenged Roker to a "smart civil debate", but he refused.

Speaking about the ongoing controversy, Ms. Michaels told PEOPLE last month that she was firm on her opinion regarding the diet, which she described as "essentially (the) Atkins" ( the regime) re-dressed for the Millennials ".
"It sounds like a good idea, but in reality, you can lose weight and get healthy without any of the side effects associated with it. And at the end of the day, I do not care if anyone wants to do it. I do not want to do it and I understood why I did not want it, "she added.
